Jeera Aloo

Jeera aloo was my childhood favorite recipe. My mom used to make very tasty Jeera aloo. Jeera aloo is an easy and quick recipe which is also a good option for kids lunch box, also while travelling. Here’s a simple jeera aloo recipe which i learned from my mom.

Servings: 2-3

Ingredients:

Potatoes: 4 boiled

Jeera or cumin seeds: 1 tsp

Salt: to taste

Red chilli powder: 1/4 tsp

Jeera powder: 1/4 tsp

Amchoor: 1/4 tsp

Dry powdered mint: 1/2 tsp

Ginger: 1 tbsp thinly sliced

Haldi powder: 1/4 tsp

Oil: 2 tbsp

Green chilli: 1 chopped or thinly sliced

Coriander powder: 1/4 tsp

Lemon juice: 1 tbsp

Method:

1. Peel and cut potato into cubes. Heat oil in a kadai.

2. Add jeera to it. When it starts to crackle add ginger and green chillis.

3.Add haldi powder, red chilli powder and mix well.

4. Add potato cubes and all other spices. Mix potatoes with spices and cook on medium flame for 5-7 minutes.

5. Lastly add lemon juice and mix.

6.Serve jeera aloo with parathas or chapati.
