Peanut chutney

Peanut chutney is usually accompanied with south Indian dishes such as idli, dosa, appe etc.( i like eating it with parathas too…). I have added chana dal too which gives it a good taste.

Ingredients:

Peanut or moongfali chutney

Peanut or moongfali chutney

Peanuts: 1/2 cup

Urad dal: 1 tbsp

Oil: 1 tbsp

Dry red chili: 1

Salt: to taste

Sesame seeds: 1/4 tbsp

Curry leaves: 4-5

Green chili: 1 chopped

Ginger: 1/2 inch piece

Rai or mustard seeds: 1 tsp

Hing: a pinch

Method:

1. Dry roast peanuts until light golden and allow them to cool.

2. Put oil in a kadai. Add curry leaves,mustard seeds or rai, dry red chilli . When rai starts to crackle add heeng, sesame seeds or til, ginger, urad dal and green chili. Saute and switch off the flame.

3. Put them in a blender along with roasted peanuts. Put  salt also.

4. Add water and blend them to a smooth paste. Serve chutney with appe, dosa or idli.
