A sweet Indian dessert halwa which we used to make at festivals, birthday or on special occasions. I am presenting you lauki or doodhi halwa which is easy to prepare and is very tasty. My mother used to make lauki halwa a lot as my dad likes it very much. This is for the first time i tried lauki halwa and it comes out very well.
Lauki or bottle guard: 1 kg
Ghee: 1/2 cup
Sugar: 4-5 tbsp
Mixed dry fruits: 1/4 cup
1. Wash and peel lauki. Grate it.
2. Put a kadai on gas burner. Add lauki and on medium flame cook till water evaporates.
3. Add desi ghee and stir continuously so that lauki does not gets stick to the bottom. This is an main part of cooking halwa. Add sugar and keep on stirring till ghee starts leaving sides of the pan.
4. Chop all the dry fruits and add them to halwa . Cook for 3-4 minutes more and serve hot.
