Lauki also known as bottle gaurd is found in every Indian household. It is rich in fibres and have very low fat content. Many people especially kids don’t like to eat lauki. So for them here i have lauki kofte. Lauki kofte is very tasty dish and i am sure you will like it.

Ingredients:
For making lauki kofte:
Lauki: 500 gm
Ginger: 1 tbsp grated
Salt: to taste
Red chilli powder: 1/4 tsp
Besan: 1/2 cup
Oil: for deep frying
For making gravy:
Cumin seeds or jeera: 1/2 tsp
Onions: 2
Tomato: 2
Green chilli: 1
Salt: to taste
Red chilli powder: 1/4 tsp
Jeera powder: 1/4 tsp
Garam masala powder: 1/4 tsp
Oil: 2 tbsp
Dahi or curd: 1/2 cup
Ginger-garlic paste: 1 tbsp
Haldi powder: 1/4 tsp
Coriander or dhania powder: 1/2 tsp
Coriander: for garnishing
Method:
For making kofte:
1. Grate bottle gourd or lauki. Add grated ginger, salt, red chilli powder, besan and mix well.
2. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai. Put 1 tbsp of lauki batter or form small balls from batter and deep fry them in oil till golden on medium flame.
For making gravy:
3. Make a fine paste of onion, tomatoes, green chilli.
4. Heat 2 tbsp oil in a kadai. Add cumin seeds. When they starts to crackle add ginger-garlic paste and saute.
5. Add onion-tomato paste and cook on medium flame till oil starts separating from it. Add haldi powder, red chilli powder, jeera powder, dhania powder and cook well.
6. Add curd or dahi and cook for 3-4 minutes.
7. Add water to make a gravy. Gravy should be a little thick(you can add water according to your need). Also add salt and garam masala.
8. Finally add lauki kofte and cook for 2 minutes. Garnish with coriander and serve hot with chapati.
