Chaas or chaach is a drink made from yogurt or dahi and by adding some spices to it. Chaas is usually made during summers in India. It has a cooling effect and also helps in digestion. Chaas is prepared by churning dahi or yogurt and spices such as salt, roasted cumin powder are added to it. Basic difference between chaach and lassi is that lassi is sweet and chaas is salted. Also chaas is diluted with water and lassi has thick consistency.
Ingredients:
Dahi: 1 cup
Salt: to taste
Rock salt: 1/2 tsp
Roasted cumin seeds: 1/2 tsp
Green chili: 1 small
Ginger: 1/2 inch piece
Mint leaves : for garnish
Water: 3 cups
Method:
1. Put ginger and green chili in a blender and grind them completely.
2. Add dahi, roasted jeera or cumin powder, salt, rock salt, water and blend them. You can add more water if you want.
3. Pour this to four glasses and serve by garnishing with mint leaves.
