Dahi bhalle is popular snack all over India. They are prepared by dhuli urad dal. Deep fried bhalle are soaked in water and then placed in beaten yogurt along with chutneys. I used to have dahi bhalle every time at my mom’s place.

Ingredients:
For bhalle:
Dhuli urad dal(split black gram skinless): 1 cup
Ginger: 1 inch piece
Salt: to taste
Oil: to deep fry
For garnish and serving:
Red chilli powder: 1/4 tsp
Jeera powder: 1/4 tsp
Salt: to taste
Dahi or yogurt: 1 cup beaten
Imli chutney: 2 tbsp
Dhania chutney: 2 tbsp
Coriander: for garnish
Method:
1. Wash and soak dal in 4 cups of water for 3-4 hours or overnight. Drain water.
2. Put dal in grinder and also add ginger, salt and grind it to a smooth paste.
3. Heat oil in a kadai. Take 2 tbsp of batter on your palm or on greased plastic sheet and form a circle of 1 inch diameter. Make a hole in centre.
4. Deep fry it in hot oil till golden brown.
To serve:
5. Soak bhallas in water for half an hour. Squeeze out the excess water by pressing bhallas between your palms.
6. Beat curd . Place bhallas in a serving plate. Pour dahi over bhallas .
7. Also pour imli chutney and dhania chutney. Sprinkle salt, red chilli powder, jeera powder And garnish it with coriander.
8. Serve and enjoyy.
